WOW!!! Tell us how you found us.....

Posting rules: It shouldn't need saying, but... play nice. Please keep your discussions civil. You can disagree, just don't be disagreeable. And, of course, all of the usual stuff like no spamming. Tex adds: I'll be rigorously enforcing this as we go along. We're probably going to be a small community in a little lifeboat, so we can't have members at each others' throats. This is for the sake of the project as a whole. So when you post, pretend you're speaking in person with your very wealthy auntie who has always treated you wonderfully and currently lists you prominently in her will. I won't be tossing anyone out of the forums because we are all in this together (except spammers: immediate membership cancelation), but I'll delete suspect posts right away.

Holy Mackerel! We're being flooded with new members and requests for the MAC beta link. A huge welcome to you all---it's fantastic! Please comment to this post about how you found us. But be patient if your post doesn't appear right away---I'm approving new members as fast as I can, and your post won't appear until I approve your membership. Also, please be patient while we scramble to answer your questions---old LZ hands, now's the time to pitch in. We have some new tutorials done by a new member, I'll have those links sorted shortly and put in the right place. We'll have many more by the end of the month, I promise---I am working on them now. But for the moment, do your best to muddle through. We started as a "lifeboat" for shipwrecked LZ users when the Lightcrafts vessel sunk, so all of us at the beginning already knew the program pretty well. But now we do understand that many of you who are becoming members today don't know the program at all. We were not quite prepared for this flood of enthusiasm. I will say this, though: LightZone is the only software I actually enjoyed learning how to use from the minute I got it in 2006. Remember also that the LZ we have today is basically the LZ of 2009-2010, stabilized and with more raw profiles, and in the case of Linux with some important defects fixed. We do know what we're missing---things like lens corrections, etc. They have been on the wish list for a long time, and we will be working on new development once we get the MAC build out of beta. We also welcome any volunteer efforts you can bring to our community: language skills for our translation project, web skills (we are Drupal based) like CSS and HTML5, & etc. This has been a volunteer effort from the very beginning, and it remains so. Some of our people have worked really hard to make this happen for all of us, so I hope you will join with me in thanking them.

You got picked up by PDN Pulse which has a very wide reach. Being featured on that blog will result in many pickups by others. Lots of Mac users subscribe to the Pulse blog.

For myself, I was an old Lightzone user from a few years ago and I'm glad to see it has returned.

Thanks a ton LZ folks. I was looking for such a software as this one. I found this via my personalized Google News. I've downloaded the package and about to give it a shot(pun intended). Well done to all involved in this project.

Replying to your question:
A good friend posted a link on Facebook with a glowing review of the software. Have been looking for a good replacement for a very old version of Microsoft Digital Image Pro which has to run on an equally old computer. Anxious for you to fix the Windows version, so I can try it for myself.

I got here (and discovered the software for the first time) through that MacInTouch post. Welcome news, since I've been looking for an alternative to Adobe's products now that they've gone all-in on their bleed-the-pros, slit-the-amateurs'-throats' licensing scheme.
