eSellerate software

Posting rules: It shouldn't need saying, but... play nice. Please keep your discussions civil. You can disagree, just don't be disagreeable. And, of course, all of the usual stuff like no spamming. Tex adds: I'll be rigorously enforcing this as we go along. We're probably going to be a small community in a little lifeboat, so we can't have members at each others' throats. This is for the sake of the project as a whole. So when you post, pretend you're speaking in person with your very wealthy auntie who has always treated you wonderfully and currently lists you prominently in her will. I won't be tossing anyone out of the forums because we are all in this together (except spammers: immediate membership cancelation), but I'll delete suspect posts right away.

eSellerate software

Doug

I noted the issue raised on the Flickr forum to which you gave a response and thought to look at my system to see what shows. I hope it may be of some use and not a time waster to set out how it looks on both my Mac Pro and MacBook.

Both have Mac OS X Lion installed, now at version 10.7.2 and with recent Apple software updates both have Java updated to version 1.6.0.jdk early this month.

The files in question i.e. eSellerateActivate and libESD.jnilib are accessed as follows:

Go to Applications/Lightzone.app - right click on the app and click on Show Package Contents - click on Contents - click on Resources - click on Java - listed there are the two files among others.

eSellerateActivate is 101 kb, described as Unix Executable file, dated 8 July 2011 15.06

libESD.jnilib is 138 kb, described as Document, dated 8 July 2011 15.06

I have had Lightzone 3.9.2 installed since it came out, with a brief hiccup when there was an issue with a Java update that killed it until an update version came out that sorted the issue - it remains a pleasure to work with.

Thanks, Kris

I've posted your information over on the Flickr thread. I hope that helps them out.

Further eSellerate info

Doug

eSellerate has its own folder to be found as follows:

Go to Users folder on the system hard drive, then go to the "Home" folder, then Library, then Application Support, there find the eSellerate folder. Within is a folder with a name made up of 9 digits which may relate to the activation code.

Within that folder is EWSMac.framework folder, which itself contains other folders and a pointer to an EWSMacxxxxxxxx Unix Executable file. The other folders carry on to show further files and folders. The xxxxxxxx is an 8 digit number.

It should be noted that Mac OS X Lion hides the Library folder in the "Home" folder as default. It has to be "unhidden".

I note that the Flickr forum eSellerate thread has no further posts since yours. My previous post here might be of use/interest to youdliehoodlie there. I have no wish to sign up to Flickr just to post on that forum, and thought I might suggest you add the eSellerate folder within Application Support to the Flickr forum if you think it is of any value there.

Thanks for your efforts

Thank you Doug and Kris for trying to help me figure out why LightZone is not working on my Mac. Unfortunately, I am no closer to a solution. All the files that Kris mentioned are in place, and I have all the same operating system and Java updates that Kris has on his Macs.

Noted

I have noted your posting but have nothing positive to pass on to you. Might it be worth drilling down through the eSellerate folders and files and post a list to compare with what is on my machine? Some discrepancy might show but how then to remedy the issue? Might be worth a try.

Serial Number

I had downloaded a trial version (3.9.2) of LightZone some time ago. I wanted to buy a serial number and activate, but came to find out that the company is out of business. How can I activate my trial version? Love the software, any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Doug
Mac LightZone purchase

nkoulian: It's been reported that you can still buy Mac LightZone from here: https://secure.avangate.com/order/cart.php?PRODS=2836559

I have my reservations, since it seems that every related link takes you to the dead Light Crafts site, and a search of Avangate for LightZone returns no hits. Personally, I'd recommend calling Avangate ahead of time at the appropriate phone number listed at the bottom of the page, to be sure that you're able to buy LZ.

On the other hand, all you need is the license key, not the software download, so maybe that much will work. I dunno. If you try it, please report back on what you learned!

By the way, here are the Avangate links for the other systems:
Windows: https://secure.avangate.com/order/cart.php?PRODS=2853883
Linux: https://secure.avangate.com/order/cart.php?PRODS=2836560

Thanks, Doug, for the

Thanks, Doug, for the Avangate link. Paid ($95), received activation Key and I was able to activate my trial version! But as you suspected I didn't get a link to download the software, and didn't bother looking into it since I already had it installed.

I'll be checking this forum on a regular basis.

Thanks again!

uninstall LightZone

OK, It seems to me that if I were to uninstall LightZone, then open the .dmg file, then open the app, I should be presented with a license prompt. But that doesn't happen. I have tried to find and delete (using CleanApp) all the LightZone related files, but perhaps I am missing some. Does anyone know where all the LightZone specific files are located on a Mac?

Also, I found this in the log file (Library/Logs/lightZone.log) -

CPU = i386
This is Mac OS X 10.7.2
JavaVM: requested Java version (1.5) not available. Using Java at "/System/Library/Java/JavaVirtualMachines/1.6.0.jdk/Contents/Home" instead.
This is LightZone 3.9.2 (10413)
Running Java version 1.6.0_29
MIW file = /Users/ralph/Library/Application Support/LightZone/License/MIW
=> NOT DETECTED

The only file in the License folder is ESLF3, even in TimeMachine archives so I am not sure that is my problem.

Doug
License files

The "MIW not detected" message is normal. The ESLF3 file is your activated license file. (ESLF presumably is eSellerate License File or some such thing.) The ESLF3 file is stored and looked for in the same folder that is mentioned in the MIW message — in this case, /Users/ralph/Library/Application Support/LightZone/License/

Is there a problem to get licensing working on Mac OS Lion?

I was thinking to buy a licence for LZ.

But checking this thread i am not sure if there still is a problem for some Lion users to get a licensed LZ to work. Or will it work for most of them?

Getting a serial number

Hello,
I tried to get a serial number for LightZone, but the connection gets refused. I guess it is due to the fact that the company does not exist any more. Is there a way to avoid getting the horrible watermark in the form of a grid?

Thanks,

eSellerate and camera profiles

There was, a while back, a query about the location of eSellerate files in Lightzone. It was answered in part but in fact there is another location. The matter may still be of interest to some and I post this as it may be of help.

It was Doug's explanation about the "lightcrafts.jar" file that led me to look into the file.

In Mac OS X zip files can be opened by double clicking - I do not know about Windows - so the method in Mac OS X is simple, just rename the file as "lightcrafts.zip", double click and it opens as "lightcrafts" folder ready to be explored. To avoid any issues with Lightzone program I duplicated the file and placed the duplicate on my desktop before unzipping it.

The "lightcrafts" folder contains 4 folders named: "com", "Jama", "META-INF" and "tilecachetool".

Opening the "com" folder reveals another "lightcrafts" folder with 12 folders within, named: "app", "image", "jai", "license", "mediax", "model", "platform", "prefs", "splash", "templates", "ui"and "utils".

Open the "license" folder to find files with ESDLicense.... and eSellerateLicense.... in their names. Can it help solve the eSellerate issue?

For the Lightzone camera profiles, the "ui" folder reveals an "editor" folder within which is an "assoc" folder within which is a "resources" folder containing the individual camera profiles.

Lightuser, you have

Lightuser, you have downloaded the wrong version.  Please read more carefully.  The version you apparently downloaded is from a link to an archival version provided for historical interest, and perhaps some user's personal operating issues, only.

The links for the new Windows and Linux versions are on the left hand side of the page.  They require no activation.  The Mac version is still in beta, and you need to request it and I will send you the link.  The Mac version will be out of beta nad in alpha as soon as the members of the Dev Team can set that up (and look at a couple of issues that cropped up)---and also perhaps get the new release (which has some new goodies) ready for all 3 platforms.
