October 16 Update: Things Should be Working Better Now

Posting rules: It shouldn't need saying, but... play nice. Please keep your discussions civil. You can disagree, just don't be disagreeable. And, of course, all of the usual stuff like no spamming. Tex adds: I'll be rigorously enforcing this as we go along. We're probably going to be a small community in a little lifeboat, so we can't have members at each others' throats. This is for the sake of the project as a whole. So when you post, pretend you're speaking in person with your very wealthy auntie who has always treated you wonderfully and currently lists you prominently in her will. I won't be tossing anyone out of the forums because we are all in this together (except spammers: immediate membership cancelation), but I'll delete suspect posts right away.

Thank you everyone for your patience during our little hurricane.  I have done a couple of things on the back end today, with help from others of course.  Our out bound email limits have been increased to 700 from the previous 150 (!).  That will help a great deal and eliminate those "email can not be sent, contact system administrator" messages (read more)

We have also enabled caching of pages for anonymous (non-member) users, which should also help take a little pressure off by decreasing requests to the database.  We considered just flinging open the doors today, but that might have crashed the download sites, which may have even less bandwidth (except the torrents).  Yes, this seems to be a result of the nice and complementary little article on Lifehacker, which community we have been told is very capable of crashing servers. It's a good thing all 600,000 of the Lifehacker Facebook friends didn't hit us all at once (although for a while it seemed like it), or we would have been blown off the planet.  Now we are down to a "manageable" 100 signups an hour, which before yesterday would have given us seizures, but now seems almost calm.  That article btw, referenced another nice article about us on Noupe, originally in German I think, that came out a week or so ago.  Soon we'll have a section on all our press, plus the original press on LightZone.  So many things to do!  I wish I didn't have to have a job(!). Perhaps I am not alone in that feeling....

I am slowly catching up with all the emails that were sent to me during the height of the storm.    Then I will begin contacting the hundreds of you who didn't send emails for whatever reason.  We hope all of you like the program, but realistically we know it won't suit all of you.  But do give it a chnace, and watch our videos---they do help explain a lot of things (and we haven't even finished making all our videos yet). You can find them in our learning center.

I can log in but cannot see the magical download block on the left. Not sure what to do.

Try clearing your history and

Try clearing your history and cache.  Try logging out and coming back after a while.  We had a report earlier today that IE9 was not showing the box, but Firefox was.  Not sure what to make of that.

Can't see downloads either

Don't want to complain, I am assuming you are still catching up, but I too can log in but can't see the download links. I tried Safari (mac), IE 10 (Windows), and Chrome on both Mac and Windows.

Thanks for this BTW, I am really excited to use Lightzone

You are a full participant,

You are a full participant, according to our records---this means you have been approved.  Not certain what the problem is---but I do think it's at your end.

Same issue as the other users

Same issue as the other users... just cleared cache & history.

But I think you were not

But I think you were not approved yet.  I had to publish this comment just now, which means you were not yet approved.  I just approved 100 or so people @ 1740 UTC.

Thanks for making this program, surviving the new user storm, and being responsive to emails.  I'm looking forward to testing out this app.

No download links

I am obviously registered (but i never received a confirmation email).  I cannot see the download links.  Ideas?  I have tried two dfferent browsers.

Am I approved?

I signed up about 4 days ago and recieved an error saying that I was not sent the email. How do I become approved? I cannot see the download links yet.
